The mission of IERC International Electronics Recovery Coalition is to promote socially and economically viable solutions to today’s rapidly growing Electronic Waste Disposal concerns. 

GOALS

IERC is creating practical approach to processes and procedures that enhance the ability to successfully adhere to individually accepted standards already created by third party organizations. 

APPROACH

IERC strives to minimize the impact of electronic waste by increasing the initial emphasis on reuse. This in turn dramatically reduces the amount of electronic waste that has been designated for less than environmentally sound destruction process. We offer options rather than limitations to our members, and are committed to helping accelerate and facilitate the shift to an end-of-life product recovery system as a first option for disposal. 

Our intra-industry tiered membership program connects manufacturers, resellers, recyclers, and non-profit repurposing organizations under unified membership arrangements with multiple tiers. 

We recognize that circumstances exist where total product destruction is imperative and the Chain of Custody critical. Items requiring destruction, such as proprietary product, recalled goods, and data sensitive materials are painstakingly addressed in order to maintain a manageable Chain of Custody throughout the destruction process. Together, we are better able to promote socially and economically viable solutions to today’s rapidly growing environmental concerns. 

IERC’s members enjoy a revenue neutral set of policies and procedures. The goal is to limit overall liability, reduce the strain on internal health and safety departments, and ensure compliance with ongoing changes of regulatory and environmental standards. As an organization focusing on recovery through demanufacturing and or resale as a primary option for disposal, opportunities often arise to provide our members with positive revenue for their electronic waste. 

End-of-life products do not have to be a costly burden for corporations. By providing direct access to resellers and non-profit organizations IERC helps firms reclaim the value of their goods. This process also provides a simple way to redistribute demanufactured and refurbished electronic goods, rather than exporting end-of-life assets for destruction in other areas of the world, specifically developing nations.
